In the 2015 version of the “Top 100 Wineries of the Year” ranking by US Wine & Spirits Magazine, Concha y Toro was again selected as one of the greatest wine producers in the world, whose wines have excelled with outstanding scores over the last twelve months.
This year, Wine & Spirits highlighted the winery’s work with the Carmenere variety, stating Concha y Toro has “elevated to a Chilean classic, especially with the brilliant 2013 harvest”. In its list of the top 100 wines of 2015, Terrunyo Carmenere 2013 Lot No. 1, with 94 points, was chosen “Best Carmenere from Chile” and Terrunyo Cabernet Sauvignon 2011, also with 94 points, “Best Cabernet Sauvignon”. Other wines joining this prestigious list were Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere 2013, awarded a historic 94 points and Gran Reserva Serie Riberas Chardonnay 2013, with a 90-point score. All wines were featured in the June 2015 issue of the magazine.
“This award is recognition of the excellence, passion and experience of our winemakers, who together with the Company’s agricultural area have done great work with the Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay grapes, among others, and have helped the ultra premium and super premium brands of the Concha y Toro portfolio achieve extraordinary reviews. It is also important to highlight our constant search for innovation and new products of excellence, using less barrels and earlier harvests to obtain wines of greater freshness and expression of terroir,” said Isabel Guilisasti, Fine Origin Wines Marketing Director at Concha y Toro.
Globally, Wine & Spirits distinguishes those wineries with outstanding quality wines. Wines nominated for the “Top 100 Wineries of 2015” ranking are selected by blind tastings by a panel of experts who taste over 15,000 wines and who choose about 4,500 wines for the Magazine’s critics. The wineries listed in this ranking will present their award-winning wines at the 12th Annual Top 100 Tasting, which will be held on October 20 in San Francisco.
Concha y Toro has been included in the 100 top wineries continuously since 1997. It is one of three wineries in the world, and the only one from Chile, to have received the greatest number of nominations in the history of this ranking.
