Building on its success in France and abroad since 2007, Maison Nicolas Perrin today announced that it will step up its development in the Northern Rhone Valley through a majority share in Domaine les Alexandrins at Mercurol. Still working alongside Famille Perrin and led by three people - Nicolas Jaboulet, 6th generation of a winegrowing family in Tain l’Hermitage since 1834, Guillaume Sorrel, son of Marc Sorrel of Domaine Sorrel in Hermitage, and Alexandre Caso, a specialist in the terroirs of the Northern Rhone – this project takes Maison Nicolas Perrin to a new level, as evidenced already in the name change, now “Domaine et Maison Les Alexandrins”.  Although Domaine Les Alexandrins will continue to draw on its 8 hectares of the Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph appellations, the Maison Les Alexandrins sets a new course with new ambitions encompassing the whole of the Northern Rhone Valley.

Nicolas Jaboulet says “This is a completely natural evolution for Maison Nicolas Perrin.  I have worked with Guillaume and Alexandre since 2012 on a parcel by parcel approach for our Crozes-Hermitage wines. We very quickly saw that we had a strong bond because of our knowledge of terroir and the wines that have marked the whole history of the Northern Rhone. Today, our shared passion for the great wines of our region has pushed us to take this leap together, inspired as much by the old vines of Domaine des Alexandrins as the search for new parcels for the Maison Les Alexandrins.

At Domaine Les Alexandrins the three men are seeking out its treasures, very often forgotten or old vines on exceptional terroirs, to achieve the finest expression of the appellation. Exclusively in Crozes-Hermitage and Saint-Joseph, these wines give pride of place to classicism.  With its more varied palette of appellations, Maison Les Alexandrins is a new take on the traditions of the Northern Rhone Valley, following its growing success since 2007 under the Maison Nicolas Perrin banner. Maison Les Alexandrins thus offers a style which is at once contemporary and timeless, founded on the exceptional terroirs discovered by Alexandre Caso. It embodies a thoroughly up-to-date classicism with the Crozes-Hermitage red and white, Hermitage red and white, Saint-Joseph, Cornas, Condrieu and Côte-Rôtie and the two wines that highlight the local grapes varieties (Syrah and Viognier). The first 2015 “Domaine et Maison Les Alexandrins” wines will be available in France from 1 June 2017.
