Domaine Jean-Marc Brocard has been crafting wines in the heart of the Chablis region since 1973. It works with dedication and precision so as to be able to offer Nature in all its power and glory. This virtuoso of Chablis, Jean-Marc Brocard, reveals Chardonnay in its purest form by scrupulously applying the principles of organic agriculture, giving full expression to the richness of the terroirs. From Petit Chablis to the most prestigious Grand Crus, it is this insistence on quality and this love of an authentic and unique wine that has made the reputation of the estate worldwide.
In order to celebrate his love for Chablis and his exceptional environment, Jean-Marc Brocard decided to reveal the values and symbols which inspire his wines through a film The Strength of the Elements. Using as its central theme the different stages of maturity in the vines, the film encompasses the four elements – Earth, Water, Air and Fire – and the symbols which have great meaning on the estate:
- the ladybird which symbolises the desire to cultivate the vines organically in order to pass on a fertile and healthy earth to the next generation,
- the spiral that can be seen in the vine tendrils and which is found again in ammonites - the coiled fossils that look like snails’ shells which are often to be found in the soil in Chablis. The spiral represents infinity and eternity and is now the estate’s logo.
“It is the strength of the elements that gives life to the vine,” says Jean-Marc Brocard.
