The 16th edition of the Muscats du Monde® international competition organised by Forum Oenologie, was held on June 29-30, 2016 in the city of Frontignan-la-Peyrade (Languedoc-Roussillon, France). Muscats du Monde® 2016 brought together 22 countries, making this competition one of the world’s top events for Muscats wines. Over the course of two days, international experts tasted 244 still and sparkling Muscats wines. Strict quality standards and optimal tasting conditions enabled the judges to award 81 medals (29 Gold, 52 Silver) that are recognised as a reliable criterion for selection.
A very international quality high-level for the 2016 award list. On the Top 10 ranking of the best Muscats, 8 countries: South-Africa, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal. The two first places are occupied by Portugal and Australia. Three French Muscats are classified among the Top 10 from Languedoc-Roussillon and Provence regions.
Incontestably the 2016 award list honor VDN (Sweet Natural Wine), naturally sweet Muscats, Muscats “Hors d'âge” aged in oak barrel and liqueur wines. South Africa, Australia, Brazil, Spain, France, Italy and Portugal reaffirm also the quality of their productions. The participation of Sparkling Wines is increasing.
